A large resource and community-building website built for the Gitxsan Chiefs’ Office. This site features an events calendar, news publisher, and e-newsletter, and business directory - all driven by database systems easily maintained by GCO staff. Public posting options and the capacity to easily upload documents were key.

Northword Magazine

The only independent, regional magazine in the top part of B.C. is available online. Behind the site’s clean design is a database-driven content management system that empowers the Northword staff to do in-house updates.

PRINT PROJECTS

We designed the template for Northword magazine when it first came out in 2004. Then we redesigned it in 2007. We design most of the ads and we work closely with publisher Joanne Campbell and Editor Paul Glover to lay out the magazine each issue. This is a great regional magazine which covers northern British Columbia and is published every 2 months. We’re proud to be a part of it.

Office of the Wet'suwet'en

This is one of our older static sites built in 2000 and designed to fit a much smaller monitor than is commonly used today. The site was a co-operative project with the local staff at the First Nations Office of the Wet’suwet’en. We mentored and helped one staff member to build this site which is meant to be an informational/governmental site primarily for Band members. It featuring resources, photos and info.

Terrace Insurance

McBike Fly Fishing

This is one of our older static websites built in 2002. Our designer created an appealing banner and template design and the site has had little in the way of updates since it was built. It was designed to fit a much smaller screen than is used today. McBike’s fly-fishing site is an informational “online brochure” which features text & photos about their boat rentals, gear, and the world-class fishing potential in the Bulkley Valley and surrounding area. We also designed the McBike & Sport fishing logo.

Smithers is Hockeyville

The official site of Smithers’ bid to be named Hockeyville in the 2006 contest put on by CBC Television and Kraft. The front-end features a neat retro look, while the back-end is powered by a powerful small-mid range Content Management System.

Ski Smithers, Your Powder Destination

This site was designed for Ski Smithers, an downhill ski destination located in Northern British Columbia’s rugged coast mountains. It features a database-driven ski report and photo gallery, which are regularly updated and maintained by client; daily weather and snow reports that can be accessed daily by local skiers and snowboarders; and a Flash animated home page banner with a feature that allows the client to update the Flash photos themselves.

This is a larger portal for 3 Haisla websites - the Kitimaat Village Council features info on Council members, a News blog, Treaty Negotiations info and documents. The Kitimaat Radio station has the potential to offer Haisla radio shows in MP3 format. And the Haisla Community section features a photo gallery, a directory of Haisla artists, Haisla language info, and potential to deliver video and audio thru the multimedia section.

This is an informational site for G.E. Greene Law Corporation, a Smithers-based law firm offering a wide range of legal services. 

BV Nordic Cross Country Ski Centre

We built a Content Management System for this active nordic Ski Lodge and Ski Club in the Bulkley Valley, BC. The site features updated condition reports on the home page and a Swap Board for buy and sell items and a What’s new blog area. The site is maintained by volunteers at the Club.

This website is currently being re-developed to operate with our mid-large range CMS. It houses a complex database of information—a directory of scheduled workshops cross-references with a directory of educators and states, a directory of workshop descriptions, pre-requisites, and more. The site is maintained by key members of the national US organization. Other features include dynamically-created registration pages, a newsletter download area, and a password-protected area where educators interact, store and share information and resources.

Gitxsan Government Commission

The Gitxsan Government Commission in Hazelton, BC provides a wide range of government services for the Gitxsan First Nation.  When they came to us, GGC had a website that was out of date and had several broken pages.  Using our Entry Level CMS we were able to design and develop a new site that they can update themselves, all for about the same cost of repairing their old site.  The end result is a dynamic professional website that will serve them well for many years.  Visit our Content Management Systems page to learn more.

Driftwood Diamond Drilling

Driftwood Diamond Drilling Ltd. is a mineral exploration drilling company based out of Smithers, British Columbia.  When they came to us, they had a website but were unable to update the content and several pages were broken in modern web browsers.  Using our Entry Level CMS we were able to build them a professional looking site that they can update themselves.  Their site features a special page to highlight their drilling machines. The site also features a Photo Gallery to display some of the breathtaking photos of places they work.

Bean North Coffee Roasting Company

We started working with Bean North in 2001 when we built their first e-commerce website and became addicted to their delicious coffee. Bean North does great project work all around the world and wanted a way to highlight this on their website. In 2007, we upgraded their site to a mid-range CMS that is dynamically feeding project information to the homepage. We also updated the graphic design to accommodate more information and fit a wider monitor screen.  The Bean North Online Store (Pro-Stores) was also updated to match the new design.

NorthWest Regional Hospital

The North West Regional Hospital District is a collection of many Regional Districts in northern British Columbia including: Ktimat-Stikine, Skeena-Queen Charlotte and Bulkley- Nechako. The organization required a logo and branding concept to present and market to the public. We worked with a committee to design a logo that suited them.

One Sky - Canadian Institute of Sustainable Living

We developed a large CMS website for this non-profit with members and staff located around the world who are updating the site using one of our more robust CMS’s. The site features a cross-referencing Stories Blog, an Events calendar, a News blog, and a directory of Projects & Programs. We also built a site-within-a-site to house One Sky’s Energetic Olympics program. This site features dynamic, “data visual” score charts, online user registrations and scoring updates by “contenders” around BC.

Minerals North Conference

This site started as small three page site for a 3-day conference in Smithers BC in 2004.  It has since grown and been added to by each community that has hosted the conference.  Smithers hosted again in 2008.  We added a secure registration form and a Zen photo gallery.

McBike & Sport

PRINT PROJECTS

In 2003 McBike & Sport asked us to make them a logo that would include a biker, a cross-country skier, and a runner. Later that year, they asked us to add a fish to represent their new line of river fishing gear. There’s a few things on in this logo with 4 icons, but our designer managed to marry them with style and the logo has achieved what the client requested. It definitely gives the correct impression that this outdoor sports equipment store has a lot ging on and a lot of energy. McBike & Sport is one of the Bulkley Valley’s premier outdoor equipment experts.

We donated a logo design for one of our local choirs. It was built as a 1 colour logo which was embroidered on T-shirts. They wore them (and sweated them up good) on their 2007 trip to Cuba where they performed in a 1 week-long international choir festival.

We built the first version in 2005 as a static site for the Queen Charlotte Islands. In 2008, we installed our small-mid range CMS so the client can easily update their directory of business listings as well as other pages.  We also installed an easy-to-use photo gallery to enhance their “photos” section that the client can update themselves.

Deltech Manufacturing Inc.

Deltech is an industry leader in providing alternative energy systems including bio-mass fueled and thermal oil systems. We provided a full CMS with a Zen Photo Gallery to display their products. Their site also features a unique flash photo fade on the homepage.

Skeena Wild Conservation Trust

Skeena Wild Conservation Trust is a regionally based organization dedicated to making the Skeena River Watershed a global model of human-salmon coexistence.  The website we built for them helps them effectively communicate and network using our powerful and flexible mid-large range CMS. The site features a quick-to-download flash animation on the home page, a news and events blog and a searchable directory of resources.

Tourism Kitimat

Kitimat, located in Northwest BC, has some spectacular scenery and recreation opportunities.  They needed a robust, dynamic site to promote this, so we built them one of our mid-large range CMS’s.  The site has several unique and interactive features.  The Adventure Tales section allows visitors to share stories about their Kitimat experience and send e-postcards to friends.  The events calendar is sortable by multiple categories and allows residents to submit their own events, keeping the calendar up-to-date and saving valuable time for tourism staff.

Kermodei Tourism - Terrace

This tourism website has a powerful Content Management System and a well-thought out user interface to help deliver a lot of content in an easy-to-navigate format. The site features banner ads and a tool which gives the clients stats and tracking features useful for marketing research.

When Kermodei Tourism first came to us in 2006, we formed a very efficient team and began a branding process that has been a lot of fun. We designed a logo featuring Terrace’s famous kermodei bear, we built trail brochures, national ads, trade show booth displays, park trailhead signs, posters, and an interactive website.

Clean Energy Classrooms

We are happy to be involved in this exciting project—a joint venture between Renewable Recruits, BC Sustainable Energy Association, and the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum.  The site is designed to help people find employment and training opportunities in the renewable energy sector.  The site features a directory and an interactive Google map to help viewers locate programs across the country.

Terrace Regional Airport

This was a really interesting project to work on.  We designed and built a mid-range CMS website for the airport, and provided a slick integration of data from a 3rd party Flight Information System so passengers can view up-to-date flight status for arrivals and departures.  The “Arrival and Departures” information is instantly available throughout the site, “sliding” out upon the mouse click using jquery sliding panel technology.  The site also features a flight schedule that is updated easily by the client.

First Nations Environmental Health Innovation Network

This website features a lot of interactive tools such as a partnership registry, a discussion forum, an e-newsletter, and a large database directory of more than 1000 research project entries. It is a communications and resources “hub” for a national Canadian network of researchers, academics and First Nations Bands. The site is built with one of our more robust CMS’s and is maintained by the client (the University of Northern BC / UNBC).

Northwest Invasive Plant Council

PRINT PROJECTS

“Got Weeds?” The Northwest Invasive Plant Council wants to help you get rid of them. This is a government-based initiative and the organization commissioned Spark Design to design a collection of 42 “field cards” printed on waterproof paper so that forest workers can keep them on hand to help them identify invasive plants. The cards include colour coded zoning maps, photos of flowers, leaves, and other detailed text to aid the awareness campaign.

Cambria Gordon

WEB PROJECTS

Cambria Gordon is the largest environmental consulting firm in northern BC.  Their site features a slick “client services” area that features a web-based ftp feature.  Cambria Gordon clients can easily upload files and view proofs etc. through the secure ftp site.  The remainder of this site features some great dynamic content areas to help highlight photos and page summaries, automatically.
